Palmistry
Palmistry is an ancient unique art used by some readers to to trace the events of a person's life. Palmisty also allows readers to see certain characteristics in a person.
When reading with palmistry it is important to find out what hand the person favors. For instance, if you are right handed , your right hand will tell the reader the events in your life, while the left hand will tell the reader things wished for or goals that are possible for you to obtain.
If you are left handed the same applies, only in reverse order.
In palmisty the hand is first broken down into one of four different types of hands based on shape and size.
These 4 types are :
the earth hand,
the water hand,
the fire hand,
the air hand.
This first gives the palmistry reader an overall view of your personality.
With palmisty, you then move on to looking at the fingers. These begin to tell a story and lead the reader into further detail about you.
In palmistry the nails are looked at along with all the lines that run along your hand. These all come together to tell the story of your life and what is to come.
With palmistry the main lines looked at are:
The life line---this tells the strenghth , vitality, and health of a person
The Heart line---this tells the emotional and and physical state of a persons heart. In palmistry, the heart line is often one of the easiest lines for a reader to read.
The Head line---this indicates the quality of your intellect along with your reasoning abilities.
The Fate line--this tells about our careers, failures and successes and the people who influence these things either for good or bad.
There are many other things looked at with palmistry including different mounts on your hand and broken lines etc.
Readers of palmistry are also able to tell the timing of events and predict things to come , all from just looking at your hand !
Palmisty is a wonderful and very accurate science, but you want to make sure you get someone that is very experienced as a reader in order to get the best read you can from palmistry.

HISTORY OF PALMISTRY
Judging by the number of hands painted in prehistoric caves it would seem the human hand held a interest for humans since the stone age. Archaeological discoveries have discovered hands made of stone, wood and ivory by ancient civilizations. The emperor of china used his thumbprint when sealing documents in 3000 bc. Information on the laws and practise of hand reading have been found in vedic scripts, the bible and early semitic writings. Aristotle (384-322 bc) discovered a treatise on palmistry on an alter to the god hermes. The greek physicians Hippocrates and Galen (ad 130-200) were both knowledgeable about the use of palmistry as a clinical aid. Julius Caesar (102-44bc) judged his men by palmistry.
The practise of palmistry was unfortunitly forced underground by the catholic church who branded it devil worshiping. Anyone found to have an interest was quickly murdered. As the church started to lose its influence in society common sense prevailed. Notable people such as Paracelsus (1493-1541) and Fludd (1574-1637) brought respectibility to palmistry through their writings. Later Dr Carl Carus, physician to the king of saxony in the 19th century matched palms to personality. Advances in genetics, psychology and forensics have propeled palmistry into the modern age.
In 1901 scotland yard adopted the technique of fingerprinting in criminal investigation and identification. Medical researchers studying skin patterns (dermatoglyphics), have discovered a corrospondence between genetic abnormalities and unusual markings in the hand. Research has confirmed a link between specific fingerprint patterns and heart disease. These days palmistry is well accepted throughout the world. Proffesional palmists can be found reading palms in every country in the world. Pick up almost any copy of a womens magazine and there is some information on palmistry. There are thousands of books written on the subject and there are palmistry clubs the world across.

Skepticism about palmistry
The prevalent image of palmistry is not an accurate one - palmistry is usually associated with fortune telling, crystal balls, incense, magic and the like. All of these can be discarded - no extra tools are needed (besides roller&ink), no magic spells need to be cast (or can be cast for that matter), and fortune telling was probably just the first found market of palmistry.
Skeptics focus on this stereotypical group of people that examine hands. These are the self-proclaimed 'magicians', those who give handanalysis a bad name, reading what people want to hear: when you will marry, how many children you will have, lottery numbers, financial success and so on. The tendency is to focus on the more obvious features of the hand - palmar lines, often ignoring the very interesting dermatoglyphics and fingerprints. Skeptics attack these people, and rightfully so. However, amidst all these negative associations with hands it is forgotten that hands ARE interesting, and DO provide information about ourselves.
This fact has not been ignored by researchers, although they have usually focussed predominantly on the dermatoglyphics and usually (but not always) ignore the palmar lines. The reason being that palmar lines have long been considered to be no more than fold creases in the hand (and are even commonly called flexion creases), despite research that has shown there is a definite genetic component to them.
Modern hand analysts, seperating themselves from earlier 'fortune tellers', read only personality traits, and increasingly look at both palmar lines and dermatoglyphic patterns, in particular the fingerprints. More on handanalysis.
Traditional Palmistry
Traditional palmists are typically fortune tellers, and may also read your personality. Contrary to modern handanalysts, they directly link a single feature or symbol on the hand to something significant, such as luck in a certain area of your life. They may have you believe that the following can be read from your hand:
'evil signs'
signs that show you will be rich or will receive money.
your past - accurate to the year
your future
your life-span
your state of health (although hands to show signs of some conditions, doctors may typically look at your nails)
how many kids you'll have and
when you'll marry
everything...yes, absolutely everything about you is in your hand!
(since when can us complicated beings be represented in a 'handful' of lines?)
While you are free to believe in what you like, hearing such things can be harmful and outright dangerous, and people's lives have been wrecked by palmists claiming that they will die or other such bad omens, living in fear of something that would of course never happen (at least, not because such a thing is in your hands, which it is certainly not!). Do not believe such claims for a second! Try to avoid such palmists at all costs.
