THE WISHFUL ELF
There once was an elf, named Elmer you see
Who had just one wish--to sit on Santas knee
Just to tell him that year what he wanted for Christmas
For as an elf he was always filling other peoples wishes
The elf didnt dare voice his wishes and sound needy
He didnt want Santa to think he was greedy
So Elmer, the elf took a long walk one day
To think about this and to just get away
From the every day hustle and bustle around there
As each elf worked hard to do there share
When he returned, he saw Santa sitting down
At a big table full with toys all abound
"Elmer", he heard from a voice over there
"Come here little elf I have something to share"
The little elf listened and walked over to St Nick
With little legs shaking he had to think quick
What was Santa going to tell him
Just what would he say
The little elf wondered and stared at the man in dismay
As Santa reached out and these words he did say
"You are a wonderful elf, and each are precious to me"
And with that he reached down and sat the elf on his knee
Santa then pulled something from a bag close by
He handed it to Elmer who began to cry
"Elmer" he said, with such love and conviction
"You help me each day and with no conditions"
"This is for you, you didnt need to ask"
For Santa knows all, and sees through any mask
Christmas is about love and living
but you my little elf have done tons of giving
It is your turn to have what you wanted this year
And on Elmers face a proud, loving smile did appear!
May the joy of Christmas, loving, living, and giving, be with all !!!
Merry Christmas
